Slime? Flubber? Let's make it!

My oldest son made this before at summer camp and when he saw I had the Borax out the other day making my homemade laundry soap, he's like "Mom, can we make slime?" Sure!  We had to find some glue in the house but we found a bottle I had got super cheap with coupons when school started so we made green slime!

Materials
  • Elmer's white glue or Elmer's school glue gel
  • Borax (find in the laundry detergent aisle of the store)
  • Water
  • Two bowls
  • Food coloring (optional)
What to do:
  1. In one bowl mix 1/2 cup (4 oz) glue and 1/2 cup water.
  2. In the other bowl, mix 1 teaspoon borax with 1 cup water until the borax is dissolved.
  3. Add the glue mixture to the borax solution, stirring slowly.
  4. The slime will begin to form immediately; stir as much as you can, then dig in and knead it with your hands until it gets less sticky. (No one makes slime without getting a little messy!) Don't worry about any leftover water in the bowl; just pour it out.
  5. Put the slime in a plastic bag and add a few drops of food coloring.  Squish it around in the bag and it will magically turn colors! (Brody chose green)
What's happening?
The glue has an ingredient called polyvinyl acetate, which is a liquid polymer. The borax links the polyvinyl acetate molecules to each other, creating one large, flexible polymer. This kind of slime will get stiffer and more like putty the more you play with it.
Store it in a plastic bag in the fridge, to keep it from growing mold.

Minecraft Valentines- DIY

Valentine's Day is coming up this week and since my oldest son, Brody, is really into playing Minecraft on the computer lately I figured I'd do an internet search and find some images and see if we can make our own cards this year.
Using my new Silhouette Cameo, I figured it would be super easy to do!  And it was! :)
I searched on the internet and found an image, made it our own and valentine's cards via at home!
Using the print and cut method, I set up my program to print out the paper, and then you put it on the machine and it cuts them out individually.  Pretty easy!
I bought him some Fun Dip's to tape on to the cards so he could give out some candy too.

Someone's 3rd grade class is gonna have a very Happy Valentine's Day!  What kind of cards are your kids using this year?? Did you make them yourself?  Comment below and let me know!

Off the bandwagon!

Got a little behind on my blogging but it's only because I've been busy switching everything over to my new branding!!  I am officially Sew Wonderfully Jamie on Facebook and Etsy!  Plus along with the name of my blog too of course! ;-)

My friend made me a new banner for Facebook too! Love it! Thanks Lori!

Don't forget the new name, when you search for things for awhile, Brodacious Bags will still come up on your stuff since it's still out in googleland, but start searching for the new name also!

I have quite a few orders to work on in the next week, and hoping to get more coming in!! I ordered acrylic keychain blanks, so those will be featured soon on my blog also!

I'm having a contest on my Facebook page too, have your friend's like my new page and tell them to say you sent them and win a free personalized keychain!

Project 365, Day 19

Hockey starts today!!  Brody and Chris were excited that hockey is back on TV!!  Watched the game and had a few friends over.  It was fun!  I also cut out another design on my machine to try out!  I had a few extra blank shirts in Caden's size so I could know he was at least going to wear it!

Love it!! I can't wait to do more things with this machine! I can do vinyl for the wall now, so making quotes and names, also wanting to order some blank cups and other things to personalize too!!  Perfect for camping and having a cup with your name on it, so you don't have to waste cups and forget what one is yours!!   Using this one as an example:
